2022 in Review
It felt like yesterday when I last wrote 2021 in Review. I cannot believe that this is the last day of 2022.
A lot happened this year.
- I moved to a new house 🏡
- I’m now a Staff Software Engineer! Still growing into my new role.
- I joined a language exchange programme.
- I hiked two mountains in 2 consecutive months this year. Mount Hallasan, Jeju, South Korea in November. Mount Rinjani, Lombok, Indonesia in December. Mount Rinjani is the first active volcano 🌋 where I hiked and camped out in tent overnight.
I’m glad to have read a few books this year.
- The Slight Edge By Jeff Olson. This motivated me during trying times.
- The Changing World Order By Ray Dalio. I found this a more interesting read than Principles, probably because I like history.
- Never Split the Difference. A book on negotiation.
- The Rational Optimist. A piece that argues that the world is getting better, contrary to doom and gloom news.
- Nether Civil nor Servant: The Philip Yeo Story. This is the story about Philip Yeo’s life. It also provides insight into the issues and challenges that our pioneers faced during nation building.
I am looking forward to the following in 2023,
- Build some fun projects this coming year.
- Improve my BOLT score by 10 seconds.
- The next mountain hike.
- Make ChatGPT and Copilot do my work while I am doing 1 to 3 (just kidding).
- Reading more books (If you’ve good book suggestions, let me know)!
